Castleford Tigers Centenary in 2026, when we celebrate 100 years as a top flight rugby league club, is also the year of launch of our heritage website.
The first Castleford Tigers Heritage project in 2017 started after funding from a Heritage Lottery grant, which aimed to record some of the history of the club before a proposed move to a new stadium. When the project was completed, further documenting took a back seat until 2024, when the group was set up again to ensure the forthcoming centenary of the club was properly celebrated. We work with the club and will continue together to produce a full history and archive of Castleford RLFC/Castleford Tigers.
This website is a live home for a continuing story of the club. Keep visiting us via the Tiger’s website HERITAGE tab as we expand on the rich history of the Castleford club, which has always been a flagship for the town and a focus for local pride and camaraderie.
Very soon the site will show full club statistics thanks to the Garbett Family, who have been recording them since 1926 when Castleford entered the Northern Rugby Football League. Len Garbett, who was a key figure in the Club’s history compiled a comprehensive record of all players, teams, matches and scorers for the Castleford Rugby League Club. Over 1200 individuals who have played first team rugby since 1926 are recorded. Other volunteers have also taken on various tasks and are acknowledged around the website when any information and articles are added.
